Live Love Life -MCC...!!

MCC..MCC..MCC…its all about Mcc.. o gwaard.. usually when people pass out from any college, in case they had a LIFE in that particular institute, they will miss that place for sure. But is it possible for us to miss ourselves?.. it is possible  and MCC made me realize this. I miss everything about MCC..

Campus- with about 365 acres of land.. I bet none of the MCCians would have explored this 365 acres(as a larger share of it was prohibited areas). But those who were interested in exploring MCC would have at least roamed nearby the mysterious lake, happening pavilion , stinking farm, the one and only depression corner and what not. As a girl, I have explored the maximum I can in MCC.

It was truly a kutti globe. Students from different corners. Tamilians, Malayalis, North-east constituting the major population. And many from length and breadth of our country and outside too. MCC gives you an opportunity to nurture ourselves in this multi-cultured crowd. Though the college is situated at Tambaram, exactly one hour by sub-urban train still everybody preferred MCC. Why? Because no soul can get that sort of a Life anywhere else. You should be the chosen ones to be at MCC, though admission is not that a hard process. But you should be lucky enough to enjoy the true life at MCC. No wonder that we hear murmurs by outsiders on how desperately they wanted to be at MCC.

The college with an average of about 6000 students and 33 departments is truly live. Everything is special about MCC. The journey starts from Orientation days(where most of us will be engaged at checking out the best in the crowd, initiation process of bubble crushes and blah blah blah) which is for 3 days, aiming at introducing the college to the freshers. Then the freshers days, well attended first semester, pretty well scored internals and externals. At halls, we will be introduced to the traditions and hall facts. One whole semester of odd jobs. (I was not open to all these, as we were in the youngest hall and being the first batch we never had any fact to learn but to make). Life is all clean till first semester.  But everything changes after 1st semester.  Being the even sem, days goes fast because these are the months of fests. Department fests, farewells, deepwoods, hall days and what not. There starts the fun and frolic life at this beautiful place.

You can see roads guarded by grannie trees on both sides inside the campus paved with flowers. Trust me. If you wanna go for a lovely walk with somebody, this is the road to walk. Especially during rainy seasons. When you look up, we will see branches of trees hugging each other. And all these trees are grandpas aging 100 plus.

The water tanks which are exclusively for love birds and gangs, gutters- where gossips burn up (actually these are meant for intellectual thoughts), stone benches etc make space fo MCCians to hangout.

The two canteens- Morning and evening. Im pretty sure that almost all non – veggies would have tried the beef biriyani in morning canteen. The hot spicy beef biriyani was all time demanded. Evening canteen will go heat with the entry of noodles n fried rice with the spicy chicken and fresh juice. I forgot. One more place to hangout –Jugghead. Only God and the Jaggoo knows how much money and time we used to spent there. We all go in gangs and have ham burgers and pepsi. And the swat..appaaa..you can call it a day if u spent the last 2 hours before 6.30 in Jugghead. People, 6.30 was our curfew.

And the scrub society activities.. campus walks, clean ups, campaigns, stalls.. it was one big experience and a fun too.. It will be hard to find Anderson Hall closed. MCC had programs every single day. And in case if it is a weekend, you can also see marriage receptions happening nearby Anderson hall.

The quadrangle will be open only during the greatest of the greatest event DEEPWOODS. MCCians have their 3 days of hectic work and enormous amount of fun in those three days. And when Deepwoods end on Saturday night, the next day hall residents wake up mostly after 2 clock. But few had to wake up early to go to church on Sunday. If one wants to enjoy the true life of MCC, one should be in Hall. i am 101 % sure that no day scholar could feel the actual beat of MCC, But only a hall resident.. everything in MCC is set for Hall and its residents.
Yes..those   5 halls.. We have Selaiyur Hall first. They call themselves as the gentlemen of MCC. Mmm..yea.. pretty descent and high spirit. And selaiyurians are said to be well mannered. Of course exceptions are there.
And next it is Thomas hall- Thomas hall and thairuvada goes together. It is said that thomasians fought against thairuvada, when they were served with thairuvada thrice a week and this how they were nicknamed as thairuvadaz. They too have a very good amount of hall spirit. Thomas hall’s highly spirited warden had this hobby of passing suspension and dismissal letters to the residents even for egging rooms. It was said that Thomas hall was the best among all the halls earlier..

so now we have the Bishop Heber hall- the barbarians.. I doubt is there any barbarian who have not tried anything in ganja , Marijuana and what not.. they smoke up.. and you should see the way a heberian comes to class. Without a shower, and a hair which might not have seen water and scissors for ages, baggy jeans, a tee shirt for an entire week, and sometimes they stink too ..oo yea.. in case u find a book in his hand, don’t get shocked. They have that ‘butter paper’ inside it so that the papers are safe, which they use to roll their stuff. All the three men hall has its contribution in making MCC, the temple of weed. Earlier it was Heber and now Hall doesn’t make a difference.

And there are many 'HALLS' outside campus too like White House, Tharavadu etc known for something special. They too follow their own traditions and stuff.
talking about the official Halls next on line we have Martin. Martin was the only girl hall in campus till 2009. All their glory was waven away by the entry of my hall- MARGARET HALL..yes..im a Margrita..n will always be.. it was always about my hall..do you know what fun is? Come to Margaret hall. It was the epic golden period of 2009-12..the best time which all margarita had and also for the Hall. Our warden Emma mam, whom we call Emma Mamma was like our mother. She was such a sweet warden which anybody could have.. it wont be an exageration if I say that even martinians wished to be in Margaret. That was the level of fun and life we had inside our hall.. every day was special. For us everything was first.. and atleast for us we were first in whatever we did. And we were the best. Auditions, freshers day, culturals, late night practice sessions, mess meetings, general body meetings, d yummiest chicken, descent food( in case im there in hall on Sunday I love everything about  Sunday especially the food menu), the towel booking of bathrooms, late  late night chats, mid night films, exam times, chai @ 10, hall day, ethnic day, Christmas celebrations, Dionysia, road painting, banners, cleaning, photo sessions, assignments , projects and what not.. life is life in MCC..n only in MCC..

MCC..Celebrating 175 years of history, tradition and glory. When I turn back today, life was too easy and comfortable  for me. MCC gave me everything. MCC taught me how to love and how not to, whom to trust and from whom to keep a distance, to laugh out loud whenever we feel like, to burst out when situation demands, affection and care under the tag of friendship, Commitment and Satisfaction and what not. Life after MCC will be very hard until and unless we move to a better place than MCC. But there can’t be a better place than MCC. Because when it is about  LIFE, MCC is the last word.

  3. what made this particular institution so unique ??? it was nothing but the traditions which were passed down the generations from our seniors, its a sad seen now that not many mccians know about the past...and the spirit of being an mccian is dieing slowly... :(

    1. everything change.. so did MCC and the traditions.. MCC that i saw in my 1st year is nt d same once i step out.. its a reality that our traditions are been sidelined and the new MCCians are not much aware about the past. I think our college administration has gone more particular about certain things and new rules n regulations is pushing MCC juz like any other college. Still there is something about this place that makes evrybody to stick on proud about..

  4. Great work Mehlikaa...:)

You are right, everything has been changed. Every year there are new rules and regulations comin in to wipe out the good old traditions...and i could imagine how far it has been changed wen i look at MOONSHADOW,which is brought down to 1 day from 3 days.
